Art Journal Journey & Inspiration

So I stumbled upon this blog yesterday, Art Journal Journey.  Actually I found it on Jessica Sporn's blog and pressed the button.  It was meant to be.  I kept telling myself I am going to make a mixed media house, but never do.  So it became a challenge!
I had the perfect inspiration.  My sisters close friend Christine Nelson is a ceramic artist.  She takes classes at the same local art school that my daughter and I go to.  They currently have a student show exhibiting and I saw these wonderful ceramic houses.  When I looked at the name,  I was so happy, I know that person!  I immediately sent a picture to show my sister.  Her piece was the inspiration for mine, after all don't we all inspire each other!
Thank You Christine!!!!

Schulman Summer Art Challenge

Challenge number 2, make a list of art you would like to accomplish over the summer.  It was such a beautiful day today we took our challenge outside!  It was nice to hear the birds singing while working.
Erin finished so much faster than I did!
Here's some full page shots and close ups.  Also Erin working, she always looks grumpy,  she's really not!

You can see in the picture we both got to the pages in our books that had the Stop&Shop purple writing on them.  We tried to make them work in our layouts.

Teacups and leftover Paint

I am really liking the teapot & Teacup stencil.  Last night I made another piece, then off course had left over paint.  The stencils are from the June Stencil club.  Not sure where that one is going!  Still have a few more to do.

Jessica Sporn Class

Today I went to a class at the studio of Jessica Sporn.  She is a wonderfully encouraging teacher.  This is the second class I have taken with her and it was great.  Its always nice to see how other people work, everyone always has something to offer.  I didn't finish by the end of the class ( I never seem to).  So I finished when the piece when I got home.

Here's what it looked like at the end of the class.

The finished piece.

Left Over Paint

If you are like me and you love stencils but are afraid to use them, force yourself! I recently subscribed to the Stencil Girl Club.  Great products!  I have decided to get out of my comfort zone, creatively speaking!  Starting this blog, forcing myself to use new products, taking classes, getting out of my comfort zone!
The art teacher in me wants no paint to get wasted, so I started a stencil book.  Any paint left over from a project gets put into the small Strathmore mixed media journal, waiting to be created.  Thats where Stencil Girl comes in.  Each page is a challenge to create something new from the leftover paint and the stencil.  So far I have three done, 4 more pages that are waiting, and another package from Stencil Girl in the mail, ah the pressure!
Let me know what you think!
This is the original painting that had the left over paint.  The flowers are stamped with toilet paper tubes, then the before and after of the stencil pages.
